The Comfort Keepers® story began in 1997 when Kris Clum, a registered nurse in home healthcare, recognized the need at first hand. Sometimes her patients’ requests were simple – a loaf of bread or a pint of milk. Sometimes, they simply wanted a few minutes of conversation to brighten the day.
However, as a nurse, she was only allowed to tend to her patients’ “medical” needs. Kris and her entrepreneurial husband, Jerry Clum, Jr., knew they could provide a solution. Today, that solution is known as Comfort Keepers and it provides in-home care to thousands of people worldwide.
Comfort Keepers now offers in-home care from over 610 franchised offices throughout the United States, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Europe, Singapore and now Australia. The company launched its Australian business with the opening of the Perth office in July 2006. In December 2006, the Fremantle office commenced operations. Comfort Keepers Australia aims to continuously improve and grow the business across the country to become the leading service provider of private, in-home care solutions in Australia and New Zealand. Just recently, in the US, the system was ranked No. 1 in Senior Care by Entrepreneur Magazine, won a Franchise 50 Award for franchisee satisfaction from Franchise Business Review and was named in the Up & Comers 100 Companies on the Verge in Franchise Times. The Comfort Keepers franchise system is comprised of a network of caring individuals committed to providing comforting care solutions. In fact, many of our owners were drawn to this business as a result of their own experiences in caring for a loved one. |
